Host Your Own Internet Radio Show!
If you have any sort of credibility or persona online you have no doubt been approached at least once by someone offering a chance to host your own Internet "radio show". As a B-list Internet celebrity, I got one of these offers a while back too. It was for a thirty minute spot on a business oriented Internet "radio station". After considering it for a few minutes, I wrote back that I might be interested but needed more info. After all, filling up a 30 minute time slot with quality content takes some serious time and effort. The next email then informed me that I was expected to pay about $3000 for the privilege of doing all the work to create the content necessary to fill up this programming slot for them.
You have to wonder where these people have been that they haven't heard of podcasts. Today anyone can air their own "radio shows" after purchasing a microphone and downloading some free software.
The hard part in succeeding online is cranking out a steady stream of quality content; the easy part is just putting up a website. Obviously the people making these offers have it ass backwards.
Now there's apparently a new twist on this old game according to a poster at the StartupJunkies forum.
